Brixton Splash
One Saturday in August, Brixton transformed from a typical shopper filled high-street, into an open air, make shift club to celebrate 50 years of Jamaican Independance.
Copious soundsystems plonked themselves wherever there was space and began blasting a variety of reggae, soul and hip hop to the eager, can drinking crowd. A 'day of soundsystems, dancing and jerk chicken' (the ace folk over on Brixton Blog did a great write up)
We had a fair amount to drink, ate some chicken and danced until the soundsytems were switched off. The shopkeepers were kept in a fair bit of business of the course of the day with people queuing to grab cans - the whole day felt like a (slightly rough around the edges) carnival and provided us with an absolutely ace day.
Lads
It was a nice picture despite me looking like a strangler, I promise.
